Local chef wins top competition |

A local chef has triumphed in a top culinary challenge, it has emerged.
Rob Davis of Bracknell claimed the National Salon Culinaire 2007 prize after a head-to-head cook-off, the Bracknell News reports. Mr Davis told the publication that he had a strategy to help him win. "We had a few practice cook-off rounds. My inspiration was to use the finest fresh foods and keep things simple," he said. "It amazes me how British cooking has progressed recently and I thought, let's take it up to another level." Mr Davis currently works for Charlton House Catering Services as head chef for Independent News & Media. Berkshire is no stranger to fine foods, with the celebrated venue The Fat Duck located in Bray and run by top culinary wizard Heston Blumenthal.
